My Sister's Keeper — a women-led social enterprise opening doors for girls and women in tech in Trinidad & Tobago

Who we are

Built by women. For women.

My Sister's Keeper is a women-led social enterprise in Trinidad & Tobago. We were started by women who know what it costs to get a foot in the door — and who decided to hold that door open for the next one.

We are not a charity asking for donations. We run real businesses that pay real wages, and what those businesses earn goes into the thing we care about most: getting girls and women into technology.

Our mission

Tech is where the doors are. We're opening them.

The best-paid, most flexible work in the country is increasingly digital — and it is still overwhelmingly men who hold it. That gap doesn't close on its own.

For girls

Start early

A girl who meets code at twelve carries that confidence into every choice she makes afterwards — subjects, CXC, university, career. We work to make sure meeting it isn't a matter of luck.

Girls in tech
For women

Change direction

Plenty of women want into digital work and have no obvious route in — no degree, no network, no time to stop earning. We build routes that fit around the life she already has.

Women in tech
For the long run

Stay in the room

Getting in is half of it. Staying is the other half. Mentorship from women already working in the industry is what turns a first job into a career.

Become a mentor
Girls in tech

She can't become what she's never seen.

Our work with girls is about exposure first and skills second — because a girl who has never met a woman who builds software has no reason to imagine herself doing it.

  • Hands-on digital skills sessions with school-age girls
  • Devices and data for girls whose families can't stretch to them
  • Women from the industry in the room, so the path has a face
  • Support that continues past the workshop, not just on the day

Women in tech

A way in that fits the life you already have.

Most women who want to move into digital work aren't starting from zero — they're starting from full. Full-time job, children, no room to study for three years and no savings to fall back on.

  • Training built around evenings, weekends and school runs
  • Practical, employable skills — not theory for its own sake
  • Paid work with us while she trains, so she isn't choosing between the two
  • Introductions to employers who are actually hiring

How we fund it

We earn it. We don't ask for it.

Donations run out. A business doesn't. Our services arm trades like any other company — real clients, real standards, real invoices — and the surplus funds the programmes.

How it works

Where the money actually goes

No mystery, no overhead black hole. Three steps from a booking to a girl with a laptop open in front of her.

01

You book a service

You get work done properly, at a fair price, by people who take it seriously.

02

A woman gets paid

Flexible hours on terms that fit her family, with training and equipment provided.

03

A girl gets a start

What's left over goes into devices, data, sessions and mentorship — the things that put a girl in front of a screen and keep her there.
